Phase I of the project is a Google Apps for Education beta program that will launch in October of 2010. Student volunteers will be solicited from all campuses to participate and provide feedback on Gmail, Calendar and Docs. Interested users will be able to get information and sign up at http://oit.rutgers.edu/google. The site will also provide general information on the project as well as up to date status and plan information. In the spring of 2011, phase II of the beta will focus on integrating the Google Apps suite of collaboration tools into the other OIT services (e.g., portals and course management systems) and working with faculty to effectively use these tools in the classroom. OIT’s current plan is to make Google accounts available to all incoming and transfer students entering in the fall of 2011.
