What are the immunization requirements for students entering our schools?

0

State law requires that when a student is in a school corporation for the first time, or any subsequent time and at any level, the parents must show either that the student has been immunized or that a current religious or medical objection is on file. Parents must provide the school corporation with complete immunization records prior to the beginning of the school year. All students are required to be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), measles, mumps, rubella, and polio. Kindergarten students and students enrolling in school for the first time at grade one (1) are required to have 3 does of the hepatitis B vaccine and one dose of the chicken pox vaccine (varicella) or a signed statement from their parent/guardian indicating the date the child had the disease chicken pox. Every student who enters grade 9 through grade 12 after June 30, 2005, is required to be immunized against hepatitis B.
