WHAT ARE THE ICAEW REQUIREMENTS?
ICAEW members are required, on an annual basis, to identify their training needs and then ensure that they undertake appropriate action to fulfil them. The former points / hours system no longer applies but members must take responsibility to plan CPD which is appropriate to the work they are involved in. Training can be in whatever form the member feels is most suited to their own objectives and there is no longer a distinction between structured and unstructured CPD. It may take many forms including atttending courses, reading , on-line training, technical meetings etc. DO BUSINESS MEMBERS HAVE TO UNDERTAKE CPD? The requirements apply equally to members in practice and business and any member may be asked by the ICAEW to demonstrate the training they have undertaken at the end of each year.
