What are the IANA functions and IANA contract?
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions are a set of technical activities relating to the Internet and its unique identifier system. These functions were initially performed by the University of Southern California, under arrangements with the United States Government. These functions are now performed by ICANN staff under a contract with the United States Government’s Department of Commerce.
