What are the Hotsync BAK Files for?
The Hotsync conduit creates BAK file versions of the following databases; • datebook.bak • todo.bak • memopad.bak • address.bak Unlike what one might think, these BAK files are not backup copies of the respective databases from before the hotsync started. Instead, they are special backup files of the databases after the hotsync completed that are created for the express purpose of controlling a slow sync to that machine. That means that if you really want to maintain a “backup” copy of those files, you should arrange to copy them off to another safe location prior to hotsync or on some other periodic schedule.
