What are the high altitude effects?
Fort Carson’s high altitude (approx – 6200 ft ASL) requires a period of acclimation, usually 2-4 weeks. Contact Occupational Health at (719) 526-6145/DSN 691-6145 for specific guidelines. Altitude also requires special cooking techniques and, sometimes, a car requires a tune-up to operate efficiently and to pass the state vehicle emissions test.
