0

The Healthy Eating Guidelines have been developed to promote learning, health and wellbeing for children and students in relation to food and nutrition. The guidelines reflect and support a number of Commonwealth and state policies and priorities. The guidelines provide a framework for schools and preschools to develop their own Healthy Eating Policy through six areas of practice: • Curriculum • The learning environment • Food supply (this includes canteens and food services) • Food safety • Food related health support planning • Working with families, health services and industryThe Healthy Eating Guidelines were sent to all schools and preschools in South Australia in 2004 and were subsequently mandated for schools and preschools in 2007. Please note: To help assist teachers with linking the Healthy Eating Guidelines to classroom curriculum, SACSA Curriculum mapping for the strand Health of individuals and communities can be found on pages 28-31 of the Healthy Eating Guidelines.
