What are the health effects of chemicals?
Chemicals may have acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) effects, which may affect various organ systems of the body depending on the chemical, dose, duration, degree and manner of exposure and susceptibility of the individual. Acute effects may include nausea, vomiting, headaches, dizziness, irritation, and loss of consciousness or even death in extreme cases. Chronic effects of chemicals may include carcinogenic, teratogenic, mutagenic, endocrine disruption and damage to the various organ systems of the body.
