What Are the Health Concerns Associated With the Consumption of Genetically Modified Food?
Genetically modified, or GM, foods are crop plants designed for animals and humans using molecular biology techniques to alter their genetic material. The result is increased yield and a hardier plant. While GM foods may help solve many of the world’s hunger and malnutrition problems by creating large volumes of food, they still pose health concerns. Governments face challenges with regard to testing, regulations and labeling and must proceed with caution to avoid causing unintended harm.
