According to AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials), natural pet foods cannot contain any additives or processing aids that are chemically synthetic except in amounts that are required as part of good manufacturing processes. Ingredients in natural pet foods are not to contain chemicals and are, in general, of higher quality. However, the “degree” of natural and interpretation of natural varies greatly between pet food manufacturers.
