What are the health benefits of drinking ginger tea/ eating ginger?
ginger in any form has long been known to settle queasy stomachs. What has surprised me, though, is that it is a decent anti-inflammatory. I have arthritis and this can result in swelling around some joints, which adds to the pain occasionally. Ginger helps reduce the swelling. It also works on one of our dogs who has arthritis. Both of us get around better about an hour after having some ginger. I have a feeling that ginger does something else, but I have not read about it. I know that when I had migraines, years ago, someone told me to try taking a little cayenne pepper and that would reduce the pain. I figured it to be another ‘miracle cure’ nonsense, but it worked. There would be a sting on my tongue and within about ten seconds my brain was evidently releasing enough endorphins (nature pain-killers similar to morphine) to dramatically reduce the level of pain. Ginger has the same sting on my tongue and it may be my imagination (who’s to argue?), but the pain of an arthritic joint
