What are the health benefits of bicycling
The health benefits of cycling are primarily that it is a much lower impact sport compared to running, so your knees do not become an issue later on in life, as is the case with runners. Another health benefit (in my opinion) is that because you are outdoors and moving at a higher speed than running you tend to enjoy and therefore persist through the exercise. People of all ages, young and old do bicycling, and as of late it has become a popular sport as a result of the Tour de France / Lance Armstrong in past years. It is great for your cardiovascular system, improves balance, and is a great way to keep your metabolism high while meeting new people in new places. As a road cyclist for the past year, I have definitely enjoyed every minute of it.
