Hazardous commodities are Restricted Commodities that have special requirements for shipping, blocking, bracing, and loading. See the BNSF Intermodal Rules and Policies Guide including the Items regarding Shipping Instructions, Restricted Commodities, and Hazardous Commodities for complete details. In addition, to the special requirements for hazardous shipments, a Hazardous Surcharge of $80 will be applied to the applicable rate. Some hazardous shipments are Prohibited and cannot be shipped on BNSF.
