What are the Hampshire College archives?
The Hampshire College archives are the raw materials of Hampshire history. They comprise a collection of materials by and about Hampshire College people, programs and activities. These records are produced in the course of day-to-day operations, and transferred to the archives when no longer in daily use by the originating office or group. This material forms a documentary record of the history and functioning of Hampshire College. What kinds of material are available in the archives? The archives preserve Hampshire College publications of all kinds, including catalogs and course guides, newsletters and bulletins, student-produced newspapers and magazines, college governance committee minutes and reports, planning material from the early years of the college, photographs, transcripts of interviews and speeches, and correspondence files from college offices (although access to many of these correspondence files requires the permission of the office of origin).
