What are the guiding principles and goals of the MS Accounting – Tax Specialization?
The Specialization seeks to prepare its graduates for entry into a professional tax practice in either the public or private sectors. The Specialization will provide successful graduates with an understanding of multiple aspects of multi-state and federal taxation, and facilitate the graduate’s transition to a professional tax practice. The Specialization also seeks to enhance a graduate’s oral and written communication skills. Because of Cal Poly’s philosophy of “learn by doing”, each graduate must complete a 9-quarter unit tax internship during the winter quarter of the academic year.
