What are the guidelines for skirt length?
Age appropriate, first rule of thumb…
If you are a woman over 24, it’s time to stop buying junior apparel which are shorter in the waist, hip and inseam … and move on gracefully towards womanhood. Purchase only Ladies/Misses sizes, which are labeled by even-numbers…2,4,..10-12 and Petite, if needed.
As you grow through your schoolgirl years, so too should your skirt length. After college, you’ll need more career wear which should be based on being suitable for work , fit well –not tight, and give you a young, professional image. You shouldn’t look or feel like a school marm nor does everything have to be to the knee, save that for later.
I had a friend who, at age 48, was still wearing Roxy skirts up to her zaza. Although she still had fabulous legs, it’s just not something you should do. After explaning how her mode of dress was out of place and what she needed to wear – her job was at the local state university no less, she slowly came around. Her boss, collegues & students all noticed & highly complimented her on her new appearance which lead to new opportunities being offered. And, she looked younger, even more sexier than in the short skirts. Remember, you still have to carry an image after-hours when you run out to the mailbox or grocery store that projects you as a real woman and not a "I wanna look like I did in my 20’s.
Accept as you reach middle-age and plus some, that the skirts come down the leg…but that doesn’t mean you have to lose any your sex appeal. One of the hottest-looking skirts I used to have was calf-length pencil skirt with a long back-slit that was totally "meow." Embrace your age with acceptance and you won’t have to worry about committing a fashion faux pas.
