What are the guidelines for preparing the color device or badge forms?
Each color device form should be colored with Crayola markers (Classic, non-washable). Please do not use color copies or ink-jet printers. I know hand-coloring is far less convenient — when I first began submitting forms I thought it was crazy to have to color each one with those silly markers. However, the higher-ups who diligently work for us to check our work and keep ongoing records of everything ever submitted require that the colors be represented in Crayola Classic markers. The method to their madness? These markers not only represent heraldic colors very well and with consistency, they also retain their accurate color for years and years. Many ink jet printer colors (and copier toner) change under heat conditions normally found on car dashboards, postal carrier vehicles, etc. This means that the color you print out might not be the color that shows up on your form by the time it gets to Laurel, and for the approval process and archive, the colors need to be visually correct. .
