What are the grounds for Divorce in Nova Scotia?
In Nova Scotia, as in the rest of Canada, there is only one ground of Divorce: marriage breakdown. Proof of marriage breakdown can be established if the spouses have been living separate and apart for at least one year before the date of Divorce (commonly known as the no fault ground) or if the other spouse has committed adultery or has been mentally or physically cruel to their spouse (the fault grounds).
