What are the ground rules for a successful VMP implementation?

0

There are a few ground rules that, if adhered to by the participants, will make the process work more successfully. These norms are discussed, modified as appropriate, and agreed to at the start of an engagement. All participants must make a genuine commitment to participate fully in the process, show up on time for the meetings, come to meetings reasonably prepared, etc. Given the limited time allocated to the process, each meeting must be very productive. Every major question or issue that is engaged must result in decisions, because those decisions then feed into discussion of the next major question or issue in the VMP sequence. So the VMP approach is to make the best decision possible at each point, and to begin implementing the decision in a deliberate, incremental way. If it turns out not to be the perfect decision, the team will adjust course later. This is in keeping with the dynamic, iterative nature of the process, and is also aimed at preventing managers from getting stuck
