What are the good practice recommendations for screws to hang kitchen wall cabinets?
Answer Hi Sandy, I understand your situation perfectly and I do not have any sympathy for installers that try to fool you like that. In the first place you absolutely do not use drywall screws to install kitchen wall or base cabinets. All good installers use cabinet screws especially designed for hanging cabinets. I use 3″ inch long number 8 square drive screws to hang wall cabinets in all wall studs and 2 & 1/2″ inch number 8 cabinet screws to tie the styles on the face frames together after flushing each cabinet together and I use the proper counter sink so that the screw heads will seat just below the woods surface so I can use a matching cover over the screw head. These buttons if you will hide the screw head and allow access to the screw head if you ever need to remove the screw under it. Any installer the tells you that dry wall screws are acceptable to hang cabinets does not know what he is talking about, and I would make them replace your cabinet at their expense no matter what
