What are the GNVQ grades and what are they worth?
All GNVQs are graded either pass, merit or distinction. Although GNVQ and other courses are not the same, the grades levels can be roughly equated to GCSE and A Level as follows: Advanced GNVQ – PASS is equivalent to two ‘A levels’, grade D/E – MERIT is equivalent to two ‘A levels’, grade C – DISTINCTION is equivalent to two ‘A levels’ grade A/B Intermediate GNVQ – PASS is equivalent to a grade C at GCSE – MERIT is equivalent to a grade B at GCSE – DISTINCTION is equivalent to a grade A at GCSE 5.
