What are the GNVQ grades and what are they worth?
All GNVQs are graded either pass, merit or distinction. Although GNVQ and other courses are not the same, the grades levels can be roughly equated to GCSE and A Level as follows: Advanced GNVQ – PASS is equivalent to two ‘A levels’, grade D/E – MERIT is equivalent to two ‘A levels’, grade C – DISTINCTION is equivalent to two ‘A levels’ grade A/B Intermediate GNVQ – PASS is equivalent to a grade C at GCSE – MERIT is equivalent to a grade B at GCSE – DISTINCTION is equivalent to a grade A at GCSE 5. How is my final grade determined? Your grade will be determined by the assignment work you produce. In order to pass the course you must pass the tests, but the tests do not determine your final grade. To get a particular grade a third of your work for each grading theme needs to be of that standard.
