What are the geographical features of Australia?
Australia has the distinction of being the smallest of the continent and the sixth largest country in the world. Of it’s geographical features, Ayers Rock (in the Northern Territory) is the most famous. There’s also the Great Barrier Reef-located of the eastern coast and made mostly of coral, it’s the largest living structure in the world. The Blue Mountains in southeast Australia are abundant in eucalyptus trees. The famous “outback” refers to the mostly desert interior of the country. Of all the world’s contintent’s, Australia has some of the ‘oldest’ rocks known over 3.8 billion years old and includes rock types from all geological time periods in Earth’s history.
