What are the genres for the reading and writing testlets?
About two weeks ago, we provided you with the 1999-2000 District Assessment program calendar. This also included the Special Populations calendar We have now enclosed the CASS reading and writing genre specific test calendar. The calendar is driven by the reading and writing adopted curriculum and its scope and sequence. The genres identified in the calendar are in the curriculum. The range of genres embedded in the curriculum are considered available assessment possibilities with an item bank of these tasks to be developed over time to make secured assessments possible for all embedded genres within the curriculum. School, class and student reports will be provided to the schools followed by parent reports for all assessments. This was a superintendency policy decision. Domain sampling of genres and development of item banks of testlets is consistent with the tenents of a curriculum based assessment system.
