What are the general rules relating to fences in the City of Berea?
The rules vary depending upon the type of zoning and lot. Contact the Building Department or refer to the Zoning Code for more detailed information. In general, in order to erect any fence, you need to obtain a building permit. Generally, walls or fences located in a residentially zoned front yard may be no taller than 4 feet. Walls or fences located in a residentially zoned rear or side yard may have a maximum height of 6 feet. Walls and fences must be designed and constructed in such a fashion that the finished side of the wall or fence faces to the exterior of the lot.
