What are the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations?
These are safety regulations applying to all furniture and soft furnishings, which must be fire-safety compliant. Items covered include padded head boards, sofas, mattresses, pillows and cushions, nursery furniture and cloth covers on seats. Such items must carry the proper label. As the Landlord, you are responsible for and must ensure that all furniture and furnishings supplied by you are compliant with the regulations. Breach of the regulations is an offence punishable by a fine, imprisonment of both. Please ask should you require us to carry out an inspection for you to check that furniture and furnishings belonging to you, the Landlord, are compliant with the regulations.
