What are the funds from the mill levy used for?
In the early stages of large developments, most of the funds in metro districts go towards the repayment of bonds that were used to finance infrastructure such as water, bridges, drainage, roads, parks, trails, security and covenant enforcement. As the community matures and more homes are completed, the mill levy is often reduced to an amount that is sufficient to fund ongoing services and special neighborhood amenities. Examples of these types of amenities include recreation centers, enhanced landscaping, walking trails, parks, property protection, common area maintenance and club houses.
