What are the funding sources of the Asian Barometer Survey?
Beginning as a research project funded by the Ministry of Education under the MOE-NSC Program for Promoting Academic Excellence of University, the ABS (then East Asia Barometer) has received resources from different agencies to support program activities and daily administration. In 2005, the project was upgraded to Program for East Asia Democratic Studies, under the auspice of the newly established Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences at National Taiwan University. The project was selected based on its potential to boost the University’s ranking among the world’s top 100 and the first in Asia. Meanwhile, the project remains one of the projects operated at the Institute of Political Science, Academia Sincia. The ABS also secures funds granted by the Henry Luce Foundation and the World Bank.
