What are the fundamental ethical principles of the Health Sciences Ombuds Office?
Confidential The ombuds office will not keep any permanent records about you or the information that you share with the ombuds. The ombuds will not share any information you give with anyone outside the ombuds office (except general statistics and trends) without your permission unless you give permission to do so. The only exception to maintaining such confidentiality is where the ombuds has determined that an imminent risk of serious harm exists. Neutral and Impartial The ombuds will not take sides in any conflict, dispute or issue, and will consider the interests and concerns of all concerned constituents with the aim of helping those constituents achieve an agreement that they agree is a fair and equitable resolution to the issues presented. Informal The ombuds facilitates communication when conflict arises and provides the opportunity for informal dispute resolution.
