What are the functions of SAQA, and how does it affect the National Qualifications Framework (NQF)?
The functions are essentially two-fold, namely, to oversee the development and implementation of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) which includes, inter alia, the generation and registration of national unit standards and qualifications on the framework, and the accreditation, monitoring of ETQAs and Providers. Another function of SAQA is to ensure that standards and qualifications registered on the NQF are internationally comparable.
