What are the Freeway models? How compatible are they with each other?

The basic current Freeway models are the 3111, 3210, 3410, and 3610. All can be mounted in standard 19-inch equipment racks. All of these models are logically identical; they only differ in their physical size and the number of ICP boards they can hold: the 3111 is 1U high (about 1.75 inches, or 4.5 centimeters), the 3210 is 2U high (about 3.5 inches), the 3410 is 4U high (about 7 inches), and the 3610 is 6U high (about 10.5 inches). Several of these models have other options available, such as dual- or quad-redundant power supplies, front-panel temperature/voltage sensors, etc. Detailed information about these and previous Freeway models is available in the Freeways section of Protogate’s website. The external “DLI/TSI” API supported by all Freeways is the same; its design has not changed since 1995. So from the point of view of your client programs, all Freeways look identical to each other. In fact, several of our customers have replaced 10-year-old Freeways with our current Freeway
