What are the fragrance Concentrations?
The amount of alcohol mixed with the fragrance oil dictates the concentration and whether a perfume is defined a Parfum, Eau de parfum, Eau de toilette, or Eau de Cologne. Perfume or Parfum –These two words mean the same thing and refer to the most highly concentrated form of fragrance. As opposed to Eau de Toilette or Cologne, Perfume is the pure concentration of essential oils, usually without alcohol, causing the fragrance to last longer. Fragrance generally lasts up to 5-6 hours. Eau de Parfum – This is the second strongest level of concentration and has the least amount of alcohol compared to Eau de Toilette and Cologne. Fragrance generally lasts up to 2 hours. Eau de Parfum contains 10 to 30% perfume oil. Eau de Toilette – This is more concentrated than cologne, but not as concentrated as Eau de Perfume or Parfum.
