There are four ways bacteria ACQUIRE DNA from another bacterium or the environment: 1. transformation (acquisition of DNA from the environment) 2. transduction (a phage acquires DNA from one bacterium and then it transfers it to another one) 3. Conjugation (The fertility factor is transferred by a bacterium F+ to one F-) 4 Conjugation involving Hfr bacteria (the same of conjugation but the fertility factor is integrated into the genome, therefore the bacterial chromosome is transferred).
