Japan consists of four main islands, namely Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu and Hokkaido. The largest is Honshu which is about 87,800 square miles and about 80% of Japanese live there. Hokkaido is in the northern part while Kyushu is in southern Japan and is densely populated with about 11% of Japanese people living there.
