What are the first Youth Olympic Games (YOG)?
The YOG are a new event, wanted by President Rogge and accepted by the members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the Session held in Guatemala City in July 2007. Its particularity lies in the fact that the same importance is placed on the sports competitions as on the education and culture programmes. The aim is to mobilise young people to encourage them to promote the Olympic values in their communities. The first edition takes place in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010. The YOG follows the traditional four-year cycle, with the summer editions in 2010, 2014, 2018, etc. and winter editions in 2012, 2016, 2020, etc. These three websites will answer any questions you may have : Singapore 2010 Why?OhGee!
