what are the financial roles and responsibilities of teachers?
Although we often spend voluntarily out of our own pockets for supplies and such because of lack of funding reaching our classrooms, we are not REQUIRED to do so. It’s just that most of us aren’t satisfied with “making do” with half a piece of chalk or one dry erase marker, a paper towel to erase the board, textbooks without any other activities or materials, and students who can’t afford to bring in paper, pencils/pens, etc. We teachers are only FINANCIALLY responsible to our families. The TAXPAYERS and LEGISLATORS are the ones financially responsible to provide money to the schools, and the ADMINISTRATORS are the ones financially responsible for deciding how that money is spent.
