Standard Analytic Files (SAFs) Part A & Part B Claims data The Standard Analytical Files (SAFs) are generated by processing the National Claims History (NCH) file s raw claims through final action algorithms that match the original claim with adjusted claims to resolve any adjustments. SAFs are available for each institutional claim type (inpatient, outpatient, SNF, hospice, or HHA) from 1989 onward. Non-institutional Part-B physician/supplier SAFs are available beginning with 1991 for 100% laboratory services, 100% DME, and a 5% beneficiary sample (contains all final action claims submitted for the 5% of beneficiaries included in sample).
