In 2007, the Government of Canada announced focused research priorities through the document, Mobilizing Science and Technology to Canada’s Advantage. Four priority areas were set out: environmental science and technologies; natural resources and energy; health and related life sciences and technologies; and information and communications technologies. Provincially, the Government of Alberta has established four priority areas under the banner of Alberta Innovates. These priority areas are: bio; energy and environment; health; and technology commercialization.
