What are the fastest growing occupations?
Two tables have been compiled to measure the fastest growing occupations found on our web site. One table lists the top 40 fastest growing occupations by the percentage change from the base to the projected year while the other table provides a list of the top 40 occupations ranked by the largest numerical change in employment. Fastest Growing Occupations are available by going to our web site at http://www.hiwi.org and selecting Occupations.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the fastest growing jobs from 1998 – 2008 include computer engineers, computer support specialists, system analysts, database administrators, desktop publishing specialists, paralegals and legal assistants, personal home and health care aides, medical assistants, social and human service assistants and physician assistants. BLS also reported that the sector which includes Retail Trade; Finance, Insurance and Real Estate; Transportation and Services will create 19.1 million new jobs during that time.
