What are the Fair Housing Laws?
The Federal Fair Housing Act declares it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, handicap and familial status. The Massachusetts Fair Housing Law declares that it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religious creed, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, children, ancestry, martial status, veteran history, public assistance recipiency, or handicap (mental or physical).
