What are the export opportunities for Indian food brands?
Unlike India and China, most countries are net importers of food. But each has its own baskets of imports. Thus there is a lot of opportunity but the right gaps need to be identified and products need to be made very competitive by putting efficient management systems in place and ensuring world-class quality. How far the Indian food processing industry has the capabilities in respect of quality to meet the international standards? First of all there can be no compromise on quality even if the manufacturer is a small one or a small vendor. Policy makers need to make this clear to all manufacturers however small they may be, that government support is never in favour of compromised quality.
