What are the expectations for AVID parents?
AVID parents are expected to encourage their students to achieve academically and to attend or become involved in school activities. What do students do in the AVID program?1. Students practice and develop writing, inquiry, collaboration, and reading skills. 2. Students develop the skills of note taking, studying, test preparation, critical thinking, and organization. 3. Students receive academic support from college and peer tutors in collaborative groups. 4. Students are motivated to pursue academic excellence through cultural and college field trips, classroom guest speakers, and AVID team building activities. 5.
