What are the EUs priorities for the Bali climate conference?
As stated above, the EU’s top priority is to ensure consensus is reached in Bali to launch U.N. negotiations on a global and comprehensive climate change agreement covering the period after 2012. An end-2009 deadline should be set for completing the negotiations so the agreement can be ratified and implemented in time to enter into force before the end of 2012, when the Kyoto Protocol’s first commitment period finishes.
