What are the essential differences between a computer worm and a computer virus?

0

A virus is self replicating and spreads itself, and is usually destructive. A worm is more subtle and quite often has a real purpose (such as info gathering). Worms tend to be sent rather than just spreading indiscriminately. Trojans (short for Trojan Horse) can work like worms, but look like legitimate programs. They can have the same name as something vital, but live in a different folder, so be very careful before deleting anything. They are all classed as malware, along with spyware and adware, but they are worse than those two groups. Get a virus checker (and USE it) and a firewall, and use Lavasoft AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy.
