What are the environmental impacts of an AAD plant?
An AAD plant is a good neighbor and good for the environment. As noted, its footprint and structure height are modest. The high rate of throughput and the use of sealed tanks preclude the development of nuisance odors. The gas product is used as an offset for fossil fuel (natural gas). Owing to intense microbial decomposition, the digestate is stabilized and needs little if any composting for curing purposes. The IBR tanks are heavily insulated and have a visually attractive cladding.
