What are the environmental concerns on the use of ethanol?
Ethanol fuel, a type of biofuel, causes environmental damage. It produces carbon dioxide and water vapour, which are the two major greenhouse gases. Also, the production of ethanol fuel, combustion, gives off carbon dioxide. Growing crops such as corn to produce ethanol fuel has not only reduced food production, but also sparked debates of ‘food over fuel’.
