What are the entry requirements in The Bahamas?
U.S. citizens must present original proof of U.S. citizenship (a valid passport, a certified U.S. birth certificate, or a Certificate of Naturalization), in addition to photo identification and an onward/return ticket for entry into The Bahamas. Voter registration cards, Social Security cards, driver’s licenses, affidavits, and other similar documents are not acceptable as proof of U.S. citizenship. Visas are not required for U.S. citizens for stays up to eight months. There is an airport departure tax for travelers age six years and older. British nationals visiting the Bahamas do not require visas for visits of up to 3 months. Visitors wishing to extend their stay must apply to the Department of Immigration in Nassau. Penalties for overstaying include fines and detention pending deportation.
