What are the employment opportunities of the Eco-town?
Creating a sustainable and strong economy along with significant numbers of new and rewarding jobs is at the centre of Imerys’ Clay Country Eco-town and our proposals include plans to deliver up to 5,000 new jobs. We are working with key partners, such as the Cornwall Development Company and South West RDA, to ensure employment strategies are developed in a coherent and realistic way. Our proposals will seek to grow key areas of the economy, using the Eco-town as a driver, and, through enhanced education and training, seek to develop the local skills base to ensure the opportunities that arise are fully realised. A key area for development will be in the emerging ‘green technologies’ sector. We anticipate strong growth here and believe the Eco-town and a proposed Centre for Sustainability will become a shop window for the promotion of these new businesses.
