What are the emerging interior design trends you’re keeping an eye on?
KM: Brass is coming back, and I am seeing it everywhere from lighting to plumbing fixtures. Luckily it seems to be more refined than the polished brass of the ‘80s. MS: I agree – brass is BACK. Both in fashion and in interiors, gold tones are making a comeback. Although it’s not that polished shiny harsh tone we saw in the ‘80s and ‘90s. There’s more tone and depth to today’s brass options. A little aged look goes a long way to making it look more sophisticated. KM: Let’s just hope that because brass is back, that fluorescent colors and big bangs don’t make their way back too! MS: Although, I wouldn’t hate catching a few more episodes of “21 Jump Street.” Are there particular colors with which you’re working more and more? KM: Lately I have been working with a lot of neutrals. MS: What? GunkelmanFlesher is doing neutrals. Stop the presses! KM: Neutrals are classic. They never go out of style. You just can’t go wrong with tones of beige, which by the way I have heard is the new black. O
