What are the eligibility requirements for participation in TEACH VA?
Child care center staff working with children in licensed centers or any licensed, voluntarily registered, or certified family child care provider meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply for a scholarship: Employed a minimum of 30 hours per week in a child care center or home and have worked for their current employer for at least 12 months prior to applying for the teach scholarship. Students should hold a high school diploma or GED. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need and commitment to early childhood education and contingent on available funding. TEACH VA provides scholarships and increased compensation for child care providers to earn credentials up to an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education at a local community college.
