What are the electrodes made from?
Each of these electrodes consists of an electrocatalyst and a binder. The cathode electrocatalyst is usually platinum. Depending on the application, the platinum can be supported or unsupported. If it is supported, it is supported on a conductive carbon support. The anode catalyst can be platinum as well, but frequently platinum alloys, such as Pt-Ru are used. These can be supported or unsupported as well.
